An heirloom variety originating from peninsula region of Russia also known as Black Crimea. It is believed that Crimean War veterans gathered seeds and took them home to grow in their own gardens. Later it became commercially available in all regions.
Black Krim is an indeterminate variety requiring about 90 days after transplanting in the garden to produce fruit. This strain produce fairly large reddish-purple skin tomatoes. Usually the skin turn nearly black in hot and sunny conditions. This fruit is sweet and gives slight smoky flavor. Caring Black Krim tomato is no different than with any other type of tomatoes.
